CPD Audit Tool
STAR was commissioned by the North West Collaboration for Children - 6 beacon status Local Authorities to create a tool for schools to assess their CPD practice. The online system allows schools to collect and collate data from their individual staff members, to benchmark themselves against a best practice standard, and plan future CPD. The Authorities can view the data collected by school and geographical area, allowing them to plan CPD opportunities at a regional level.

"In my role as School Workforce Development Adviser for Rochdale LA, it has been my privilege to work with many committed, skilled and professional people on workforce development issues. I include the staff of STAR/2develop in this group of people and have worked with them for the last four years.
Most recently STAR/2develop worked with LAs from the NW Collaboration for Children, of which Rochdale is a member. The School Workforce Advisers within this Collaboration wanted to develop an on-line CPD audit tool for their schools. STAR/2develop was chosen as the IT development partner due to working successfully with them on previous occasions e.g. to enhance the existing Training Need Assessment Tool, Identifit, to meet LA and schools’ needs. This final tool was then purchased for schools by a number of NW Authorities, including in Rochdale.
During the development we experienced an excellent and very successful working partnership with the staff of STAR/2develop as they were able to translate our ideas and ‘vision’ into a high quality on-line CPD audit tool. STAR/2develop was represented by John Smith who was at all times professional, responsive and highly skilled, being endlessly patient with our frequent changes of mind and requests for amendments. He carefully listened to and considered our rationale and intended purpose, guiding and supporting our thinking and turning our vision into a reality. The final product is an on-line CPD tool, designed to the highest specification, easy to use and cost-effective.
At a recent ‘Making the Links’ conference for school leaders, held in Rochdale and supported by the TDA, John led a workshop in the afternoon to demonstrate the resources available to them to support effective whole school workforce development. These resources were Identifit and the CPD audit and both were very well received. Some workshop participants were already using Identifit and spoke very highly of it and its role in supporting PM review meetings. Maxine Prince, a TDA Programme Leader, attended this workshop and would be able to comment on both products and verify the positive response from the attendees, including Head Teachers.
I have the very highest regard for the expertise and integrity of STAR/2develop as a company and of the individuals within it and have absolutely no hesitation in recommending STAR/2develop as a potential working partner and developer of on-line tools/resources."
Kath Perrin, Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council
"I am pleased to confirm that Connexions in Greater Merseyside has been working with Star Training/2develop for 12 months and we have worked together to adapt the Skills Audit Tool to the specification required by Connexions.
Staff at Star have been responsive to our suggestions and have always acted promptly. Their help at the end of the telephone to advise and answer any of our queries has been valued and we have developed a good, professional working relationship."
Beryl Williams, Connexions Greater Merseyside
